The institute currently provides a master’s program. A student may finish the study within 2 years at least, and up to 4 years at the most. A student is required to complete 33 credits for graduation. In addition to the 6 credits for the thesis, students need to take at least 27 credits in core and optional courses. The institute also establishes a learning passport system to strengthen students’ various capabilities. After completing the course with required credits, complete learning passports, and passing the oral examination for the thesis, the student is granted a Master’s degree in Gender Studies.

The Learning Passport System

As a qualification for graduation, the institute establishes a learning passport system to strengthen students’ various capabilities in multi-faceted ways:

1. Participate in at least one gender-related activity hosted by the government or a non-governmental organization (NGO).
2. Attend at least one on-campus/off-campus international scholar’s lecture.
3. Participate in at least one academic Conference.
4. Give at least one oral/poster presentation in a symposium, or publish at least one paper on an academic journal with peer review system as first author, (not including book reviews, activity reports, translation or creative writing. Academic papers must be reviewed and approved by the Institute Affairs Meeting.)
5. Accomplish one of the four following tasks: giving a public speech on gender; arranging a gender-related activity; having a public article published; participating in an NGO work/work study/internship.
6. Before taking the oral examination for your own thesis, attend at least one each of the proposal presentation and oral examination of a thesis other than yours.
7. If one of the professional competence tasks the student intends to accomplish for graduation is not in accordance with the above regulations, it may be submitted to the Institute Affairs Meeting for deliberation with the consent of the advisor.
